Wilma Alice Houk, 89, of Hillsboro, formerly of Lynchburg, died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro.
She was born November 3, 1921 in Celina, the daughter of the late Leroy and Frances Agnes Murphy Curles.
She was a member of the St. Martin Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality; and a member of the Northern Brown County Senior Citizens.
She enjoyed playing bingo and crafting, she was also an avid collector of angels. The real joy in her life was raising eight children, along with foster children, and being a mother to many other children in the family and neighborhood.
She is survived by seven children, Nancy Heinz of Batavia, Doris Middleton of Milford, James (Jean) Houk of Milford, Ola May Houk of Gallipolis, Wilma (Bill) Setty of Lynchburg, Rachel (Mike) Vaughn of Gas City, Indiana, and Helen (Edward) Morgan of New Richmond; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother Paul Curles of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Olin Houk in 1986; daughter, Mary Frances Houk; brother, Jack Curles; son-in-law, Richard Heinz; and four grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, March 14 at the St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, St. Martin Parish.
Father Hank Albeitz will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Fayetteville. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 13 from 2-5 p.m. at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, Ky. 41056.
