William A. Rhoads, Sr., 84, of Florence, Ky., formerly of Greenfield, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington.
He was born on June 21, 1928 in Sinking Spring, the son of the late Walter C. and Phina Hockman Rhoads.
Bill was a truck driver, where he was an owner/operator for many years. He was a member of the Greenfield Church of Christ and the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.
On April 24, 1948, he married the former Phyllis Jean Kerns, and she survives.
He is also survived by three children, William A. (Bid) Rhoads, Jr. of South Salem, Sharon (Steve) Weaver of Florence, Ky. and David (Lois) Rhoads of East Liberty; eight grandchildren, William Rhoads III, Roslynn Liggett, Jesse Rhoads, Brandi Stone, Noel Johnson, Sierra Bosse, Dusty Rhoads and Dawn Shepardson; 16 great-grandchildren; and his best friend, Jimmy Walker of Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Lawrence, Robert, Cliff, Harley and Mark.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Greenfield Church of Christ with Bill Requardt officiating. Burial will follow in South Salem Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield. Calling hours will be held at the church on Saturday for 9 a.m. to the time of the service.
