William “Bill” Conley Jr., 82, of Hillsboro died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 at the Crestwood Nursing Center.
He was born July 28, 1929 in Rarden, the son of the late William and Flora Meddock Conley.
Mr. Conley had retired after 35 years of service with the Fairley Hardware Store in Hillsboro. He was a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, a life member of the AmVets Post #61, a life member of the VFW Post #9094 and was Past Exalted Ruler of the Hillsboro Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #361.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Fox Conley, whom he married on June 14, 1952 in Liberty, Ind.; three sisters, Marie Bigelow of Flemingsburg, Ky., Sharon Johnston of Sebring, Fla., and Carolyn Moler of Mt. Orab; two brothers, Donald Conley of Mt. Orab, and Carl Conley of Loveland; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ida Louise Garberich.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Dr. Derek Russell will officiate. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call form 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 2 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
