Viva Nell Black, 89, of Frankfort, died at her home on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011.
She was born in New Vienna on Aug. 2, 1922, the daughter of the late William J. and Icy Florence Parks Baxla.
Viva was a 1941 graduate of McClain High School. On July 19, 1942, she married Chester F. Black, who preceded her in death on July 25, 2005.
She is survived by her children, Errol Black of New Holland, Diana (John) Smalley of Chillicothe, Barry (Candy) Black of Greenfield, Kenny Black of Washington Court House and Portia (Rick) Knisley of Frankfort; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Jean Smith, Rita (Charles) Shonkwiler and Phyllis (Charles) Willis, all of Greenfield; Erma Butler of Florida; brothers, Loren (Donna) Baxla of Zanesville and Sherryl Baxla of Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were two sisters, Martha Divney and Waneta Wallace.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 at the Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort with Rev. Chuck Shonkwiler and Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
