Vera Cochran, 93, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at the Laurels of Hillsboro.
She was born in Highland County on Sept. 26, 1918, the daughter of the late Joseph and Effie (Roberts) Strain.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband whom she married on July 30, 1938, Harold Roush Cochran, who preceded her in death April 15, 1989; one daughter, Shirleen Arledge; two sisters; and three brothers.
She was a member of the Danville Church of Christ and owned and operated Harold Cochran Butchering for several years.
She is survived by one son-in-law, Larry Arledge of Hillsboro; two grandsons, Jerry Cochran and Gary (Rachel) Arledge, both of Hillsboro; one brother, Vincent Strain of Hillsboro; four great-grandchildren, Beth (Steve) Oley of Lynchburg, Kyle (Jessica) Cochran of Max Meadows, Va., Caitlyn Arledge of Hillsboro and Jacob Arledge of Hillsboro; two great-great-grandchildren, Christopher James Oley and Ailey Cochran; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 at the Thompson Funeral Home with Darrin Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamer Township Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday from noon till time of service at 2 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
