Velma M. West

Velma M. West, 91, of Hillsboro died Wednesday, July 18, 2012.
She was born in Adams County, on Jan. 10, 1921, the daughter of the late William and Una (Simmons) Wylie.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence West, on July 12, 1971; one brother, Howard Wylie; and two sisters, Loree Tumbleson and Mary Baldwin.
Velma was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ervin and Margaret West of Hillsboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and John Naylor of Lynchburg, and Wanda and Marion Foster of Hillsboro; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Duane Michael of Hillsboro, and Wandalee and Eddie Moore of Winchester; six grandchildren, David (Jackie) Naylor, Jim (Becky) West, Karen (Rusty) Fite, Jerry West, Krista (Travis) Gard and Cyndi (Marty Scott) Walker; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Ken Woleab and Mick Parks will officiate, with burial to follow in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call on Monday July 23 from 5-8 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
