Valerie Kay Deaton, 55, of Hillsboro, died Friday June 1, 2012 at the UC Medical Center in Cincinnati.

She was born March 4, 1957 in Cincinnati, the daughter of the late Chester and Neva Woodward Stephan.

Mrs. Deaton had worked as a surgical technician for 18 years at the Highland District Hospital, had worked at Clinton Memorial and Fayette Memorial Hospitals and had also worked as a STNA at Heartland of Hillsboro.

She is survived by her husband, Hector Deaton Jr., to whom she was married on Aug. 27, 1976 in Hillsboro; two daughters, Rebecca (Ruben) Fyffe of Hillsboro and Melissa Collett of Hillsboro; one son, Jeffery Carl Brandenburg of Wilmington; one son-in-law, Jacky Collett of Hillsboro; one brother, Chester (Diana) Stephan of Hillsboro; one half-brother, Errol (Catherine) Parks of Hillsboro; and six grandchildren, Cheyenne Collett, Ashley Collett, Hannah Collett, Madison Collett, Haley Fyffe and Jordan Fyffe all of Hillsboro.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 7 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow in the Stringtown Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
