Timothy Robert Vance, 56, of South Salem, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Greenfield on June 16, 1954, the son of John "Jack" and Esther (Miller) Vance.
He attended South Salem Presbyterian Church and serried in the US. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was owner/operator of the Sign Shop in South Salem and former owner of Foothills Customs Motorcycle Shop. He was the bass guitarist for the band Salem's Lot. He was a 1972 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School.
He is survived by his wife, Lavaunda (Gill) Vance, whom he married Oct. 30, 1993; three sons, Skyler (Jami) Gill of Savannah, Ga. and Jack Vance and Christopher Vance, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Rianna Vilaire of Phoenix; one brother, Don (Lorena) Vance of Ruidoso, N.M.; mother, Esther Vance of Waverly; parents-in-law, Robert and Judy Gill of South Salem; three nephews, John Gill and Jack Gill, both of Greenfield and Jack Gill of Nashville, Tenn.; one niece, Allison Gill of Nashville; additional nieces and nephews; and three brothers-in-law, Steve Gill of South Salem, Gary (Sandy) Gill of Nashville and Doug (Joei) Gill of Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by his father, John "Jack" Vance.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Mark Current officiating. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery, where military rites will be provided by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday with veterans appreciation services to be held at 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Timothy Vance to South Salem Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 202, South Salem, Ohio 45681.
