Thomas Allen Stanforth, 65, of Hillsboro, passed away early Wednesday morning Oct. 10, 2012 at the Highland District Hospital.

He was born July 17, 1947 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Allen "Bud" and Evelyn Mercer Stanforth.

Mr. Stanforth had owned and operated Sandy's Carryout for many years and was an antique refinisher, woodworker and avid hunter and fisherman. He was a 1965 graduate of Hillsboro High School and had served in the Ohio Army National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Carol Bolte Stanforth, whom he married on Dec. 26, 1969 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Hillsboro; one son, Tom (Jennifer) Stanforth, Jr. of Cincinnati; one daughter, Megan (Scott) Parsons of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Taylor, Whitney, Mallory, Alyssa and Bryce; two sisters, Sally (Bruce) Davis of Hillsboro and Debb (Sandy) Stanforth of Swanton; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Pastor Josh McFarland will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Catholic School, 119 E. Walnut St., Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
