Shirley Irene (Williams) Swingley
Shirley Irene (Williams) Swingley, 86, of Hillsboro, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 at The Laurels of Hillsboro with family around her side.
She was born March 22, 1926 in Highland County, the daughter of the late Bellamy C. and Alta Mae (VanPelt) Williams.
She was united in marriage on July 1, 1947 to Henry Lee Swingley who preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1970. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard (Virginia) Williams, Gene (June) Williams and Irvin Williams; and one sister, Ruby Williams.
As a descendant of Julia Gall Williams, she was a member of the DAR, Marshall Church of Christ and retired from Highland District Hospital.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John and Sandy Swingley of Hillsboro; four daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Ann Swingley of Hillsboro, Debbie and Randy Sanders of Hillsboro, Joyce Ellis of Centerville, Ga., and Barbara and Steve Conomy of Holiday, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Anissa (Clay) Simmons, Craig (Jill) Sanders, Mollie Archie, Ashley Sanders all of Hillsboro, Lisa King of Centerville, Ga., Scott and Jeff Conomy of Holiday, Fla.; 13 great-grandchildren, Shaylee and Silas Simmons, Damon and Justin Patridge, Jasmine Moore, Jeffrey Conomy, Jr., C.J. and Eli Sanders, Andrea and Abigail Archie, Quinton, Embree and Benson Lambert; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Williams and Edith Guthrie of Hillsboro; one brother-in-law, Bob Swingley of Hillsboro; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 at the Thompson Funeral Home.
Tom Stoops and Mick Parks will officiate, with burial in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
