Shirley Bolden

Shirley Jean Bolden, 67, of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at her home. 

The life Shirley lived on this earth was as a sinner born again daily in reverence and fear unto God. Shirley was a shining example of God’s glory of the faith in Jesus Christ. She believed in the supernatural of God in signs, miracles and wonders. She always told her family and church family the quote, "God is going to use me and our whole entire family, and all of you are going to see it with your own eyes. You need to get ready because we are going to show the world what kind of God we serve.” She often quoted in the word of God, 1 Corinthians 2:9, “As it is written, eyes have not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him.” 

She told her family right before her death that no matter what happens to keep on believing and trusting in God. She had a praise dance and song that she taught them years ago. They performed it many times up unto the time of her death. She would lead them, her husband Bruce Sr. would follow her, and right behind him were their children and their spouses starting from the oldest to the youngest, followed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would begin to say, “It’s our time for God’s favor and it’s our time to be blessed," and her whole entire family would follow her by joining in clapping and singing it, and at the end she said "and that time is now." They sang it many times. They all would give God Glory, thanks and praise for what He was going to do in the lives of the Boldens and Jacksons. 

Her life and family was surrounded by love and happiness and the joy of the Lord. Her life was surrounded by the love of God and her family that meant so much to her. She always encouraged them to stay positive and always live a life unto Jesus Christ, "to lean on Him and He would direct your paths." She believed and supported them in every circumstance. 

She loved to cook for her family every Sunday after church, and she loved to go shopping. She performed her duties as a wife and a mother, and she did it well. She loved her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family with all of her heart, soul, mind and strength.

She was a faithful member and co-founder establishing God’s Chosen Church of New Beginnings of Jerusalem. She was a great prophet of God that dreamed dreams and saw visions from the Lord. She believed and prophesied in the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. 

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bruce L. Bolden, Sr.; her children, Bruce L. (Kim) Bolden Jr. of Washington CH, Melissa Bolden and Ariana (Craig) Jackson, Sr. of Hillsboro and Damon (Kathy) Bolden Sr. of Japan; grandchildren, Danielle, Bruce “Brock” III, Jannelle Bolden, Janiya Phillips, Craig II, Jada and Raven Jackson and Diane and Damon Bolden Jr.; great grandchildren, Iyanna Brown, Jrevon Kidder and Samuel Bolden; step-grandchildren, Rachel and Alessia Martinez and Kaylah Young; one brother, Robert (Sally Ann) Rollins of Cincinnati; one sister, Ava Johns of Washington CH; special nephew, Tyson Rollins; special cousins, Marcus Burns and Terry Burns; special goddaughter, Tina Cumberland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28 at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene. Shirley and Bruce Sr. and daughter, Senior Pastor/Prophet Ariana J. Jackson of New Beginnings of Jerusalem, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene.
