Sara Jean Higgins, 84, of Hillsboro, died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Heartland of Hillsboro.

She was born May 3, 1928 in Danville, the daughter of the late Edgar and Mozelle (Cadwallader) Bloom.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Higgins, on May 13, 2004.

She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, life member of the DAV Ladies Auxiliary, retired from the Highland District Hospital after 25 years of service.

She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Bob and Christine Storer of Hillsboro, and Steve Higgins of Hillsboro; two daughters, Melody Evans of Newark and Jackie Freshour of Hillsboro; two sisters, Naomi Newhouse of Kettering and Marianna Gall of Baltimore; six grandchildren, Vicki Storer, Kim (Jeff) Johnson, Benjamin (Brooke) Lucas, Erin Freshour, Haley Freshour and Audrey Evans; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. John Porter will officiate with burial to follow in the Hamer Township Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from noon-2 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.

Family requests memorials to the Samaritan Outreach, Hillsboro Church of Christ or Heartland Hospice.
