Sara Fling, 70, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011 at her home.

She was born May 8, 1941 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Albert Redkey and Virginia Roads Fling.

Sara had been an educator for many years. She was a 1959 graduate of Hillsboro High School; received her bachelor's degree from Miami University in Oxford; her master's degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.; and had completed her doctorate degree work at the University of Wisconsin. She had worked as the Director of Testing in the Summit Public School System in New Jersey and had been the Reading Specialist for the Moundsville School System in Moundsville, W.Va.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Jane (Dr. David) Mallory of Loudonville and Janet (Larry) Daniel of Clayton, N.C.; two nieces, Amy Elizabeth (David) Williams of Rowlett, Texas and Heidi Ann (Christopher) Webber of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; and three nephews, David S. (Lynn) Mallory Jr. of Cleveland, Gregory Scott (Christine) Daniel of Marietta, Ga. and Russell Todd Daniel of Clayton, N.C..

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Hillsboro Cemetery. Jeff Lyle will officiate. Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
