Samuel L. Prye, 68, of Hillsboro, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 in Hillsboro. 

He was born July 24, 1945, in Springfield, the son of the late Jesse Albert and Cora (Horn) Prye. 

He was a member of the Highland County Senior Citizens and was a retired truck driver. 

He is survived by six children, Charlotte Stone and her husband, Earl, of Hillsboro, Albert Prye of Indiana, Georgette Colt and her husband, Mark, of Englewood, Sam Prye of Huber Heights, Mendy Cramer and her husband, Ronald Jr., of Hillsboro and Jesse Prye of Hillsboro; 16 grandchildren, Earl, Samuel and Kimberly Stone, Blake, Brooke, Bryce and Blair Prye, Michael, Samantha, Dakota, Devin, Andrew, Austin, Zander, Tyler and Gavin Prye; his companion, Ghila Helterbrand of Hillsboro; and a sister, Barbara (David) Sibole of Leesburg. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Cordell) Prye, on April 5, 2002; and a son, Billy Prye. 

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 11 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. David Sibole will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kirker Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
