Ruth Welch, 91, of Wilmington, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Wilmington Nursing Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Nolan, W.Va., on April 16, 1921, the daughter of the late John and Nannie (Presley) Diamond.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Welch, on Jan. 31, 2001; one daughter, Dora Marie Workman; and one son, Denny Ray Welch.

She had attended Zion Hill Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Polly McQuesteen of Jefferson City, Tenn.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 11 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Pastor Robert Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Friends may call on Monday from noon-2 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
