Ruth Iona Brown
Ruth Iona Brown died June 7, 2012 at the Colony Nursing Home in Columbus.
She was born on Feb. 20, 1914 in Clermont County to Samuel and Emyra (Brewer) Mallott and she was the youngest of their five children.
She married Charles Herbert Brown on June 24, 1934 and they had two children, Wayne Brown of Green Valley, Ariz. (Sylvia) and Joy Temple of Hillsboro deceased (Joe).
Also mourning her passing are her six grandchildren, Cindy, Donald, Tony, Alex, Jennifer and David; five great-grandchildren, Chris, Erica, Chelsey, Logan and Leah; and one great-great-grandchild, Emery.
She lived in Highland and Brown counties where she and Herbert raised their children. Although both of them were deaf, they were very hard workers and wonderful parents who encouraged both children to accomplish graduation from college.
In 1978, she and Herbert moved to Salem, Ore., to be with their son, Wayne. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a wonderful cook. The family looked forward to spending time at their home and her positive influence will have a lasting effect on all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by all.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Andrew Johnson will officiate with burial to follow in the New Market Baptist Cemetery. Visitation with family will be Saturday June 16 from 1:30-2 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
