Roy P. Collins

Roy P. Collins, 86, of Hillsboro died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Highland District Hospital.
He was born July 6, 1927 in Decatur, the son of the late James Everett and Lola Dee Paul Collins.
Mr. Collins had retired as the manager of the Hillsboro Parts Store. He was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ where he had served as deacon, greeter, trustee and board member. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, a member of the Highland Lodge #38 F&AM, the Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, the Wilmington Emmaus Community and had been an assistant for the Turner & Son Funeral Home since 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Taylor Collins, whom he married on Feb. 11, 1951; three children, Judy (Fred) Pabsch of Alpharetta, Ga., Pam (Mark) Coffman of Snellville, Ga., and Brian (Janet) Collins of Lynchburg; six grandchildren, Chad (Carly) Coffman of Loganville, Ga., Drew (Lauren) Coffman of Lawrenceville, Ga., Ryan (Brandy) Collins of Lynchburg, Ashley (Travis) Florence of Lynchburg, Stefanie Maier of South Carolina, and Jennifer (Joe) Morecraft of Canton, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren, Koen and Kami Collins, Madilynn Watkins, Dylan and Logan Coffman, Charlie and Myles Morecraft and Trenton Florence.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Collins on July 1, 2010.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 15 at the Hillsboro Church of Christ. John Porter will officiate. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County honor Guard, will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call on Monday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Hillsboro Church of Christ.
