Roy N. Chambers
Roy N. Chambers, 74, of Hillsboro, formerly of Florence, Ore., died Monday, July 23, 2012 at his home in Hillsboro.
He was born Feb. 6, 1938 in Brumley, Mo., the son of the late Jasper Newton Chambers and Arrena Mahala Brown Chambers.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, woodworking and leather-working.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Lee Chambers of Hillsboro, whom he married April 7, 1962 in Hamilton; two daughters, Dorothy Jane Chambers of Williamstown, Ky. and Lori Ann Chambers (John) Elholm of Evington, Va.; one son, Roy Scott (Christina) Chambers of Mowrystown; four grandchildren, Adam Brown, Sarah Brown, Ryan Howell and Tate Chambers; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Brown and Ashlin Brown; a sister, Dorie Miles of Florence, Ore.; two sisters-in-law, Irene Chambers, of Klamath Falls, Ore. and Nadine Chambers of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Webb of Hillsboro.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by an infant son, Gary Wayne Chambers; two infant grandsons, Christopher and Brandon Brown; three brothers, Elijah H. Chambers, Walter L. Chambers and Jasper Eddie Chambers; and a sister, Mary B. Branham.
Services will be held at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Kevin Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in the New Market Baptist Cemetery, where the Highland County Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
Friends will be received at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Thursday from 10-11 a.m.
