Ronald Eugene Brickey, Sr., 74, of Greenfield, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 at his home.
He was born Oct. 30, 1937 in South Portsmouth, Ky., the son of Paul R. and Geneva (Sturgil) Brickey, Sr.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Federal Ranger with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, retiring after 38 years of service.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley M. (Ratcliff) Brickey, whom he married on Aug. 11, 1960; one son, Ronald “Ronnie” (Kathy) Brickey of Greenfield,; one daughter, Faitha (Danny) Shelton of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Rachel (Jeremy) Fraley of Greenfield; Adam Shelton of Eugene, Ore.; Matthew Shelton of Greenfield; Alycia and Sarah Brickey of Greenfield; one brother, James (Kathy) Brickey of St. Louis, Mo.; and one sister, Phylis Harris of Flatwoods, Ky.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce McDowell; one brother, Paul R. Brickey, Jr.; and both parents.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Tim Mohon officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.
