Robert Wilson McNeilan, 71, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Highland District Hospital.

He was born on Oct. 7, 1939 in Adams County, the son of the late Hubert and Dorothy (Jackman) McNeilan.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sherry Runyon.

He was a member of Highland Lodge #38 F&AM, Hillsboro Council #16, Highland Chapter#40 RAM and retired from the Army National Guard with 23 years of service.

He retired after 43 years from Columbus and Southern Electric/AEP.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Brown) McNeilan of Hillsboro, whom he married on Oct. 18, 1958; one son, Tim (Ruth) McNeilan of Hillsboro; two daughters, Tammy (Al) Hoover of Winston Salem, N.C., and Angie (Ivan) Bennett of West Chester; four grandchildren, Candace McNeilan, Zack Puckett, Alex Bennett and Anderson Bennett; two step-grandchildren, Nick Reynolds and Ryan Reynolds; a great-grandson, Carson Puckett; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home with Kim Zornes officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
