Robert Lee Bishop
Robert Lee Bishop, 84, of New Vienna, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 after a brief stay at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Ft. Thomas, Ky.
He was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Gate City, Va., the son of the late Hiram and Dora (Hammonds) Bishop.
He was very proud of his 38-year career as a welder. He worked at Hobart Brothers in Troy for 21 years, and then worked for Troy Sun Shade, from where he retired after 17 years of service.
He was very dedicated to his family, and enjoyed family gatherings, hunting, fishing and playing pool and eating with friends at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center.
He is survived by three children, Allen (Pam Walker) Bishop of New Vienna, Diana (Kim) Coffman of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Lois (George) Brooks of McAllen, Texas; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four sisters, Shirley Barker of West Milton, Mattie Wooten of Troy, Phyllis (Larry) Morris of Florida, and Nora (Bill) Vao of Miamisburg; a brother, Lionell Bishop of Gate City, Va.; and a sister-in-law, Connie Bishop of Wapakoneta.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Bishop and Paul Bishop.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Pastor Tom Zile will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
