Robert L. “Bobby” Captain, 76, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 at the Bethesda North Hospital.

He was born March 4, 1935 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Roy and Leontean Alsop Captain.

He was a veteran of the United States Army. Bobby had retired from ODOT after more than 32 years of service, was a member of the Highland County Democratic Party Central Committee, a member of the Highland County Coon Hunters Association and enjoyed hunting and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Clemons Captain, to whom he was married June 20, 1970 in Hillsboro; children, Kenny (Cindy) Captain, Rick (Andrea) Clemons and Jackie Captain-Moss, all of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Tiffany McCathron, Shaunta Captain, Kindrea Middleton-Captain, Kyle (Michelle) Clemons, Tisha Captain, Tracy Captain, Ciara Captain, Alana Clemons, Torie Clemons, Nikki Moss and Sara Moss; several nieces and nephews, including Steve Hummons of Dayton; and good friend Donnie Brown of Hillsboro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings, Betty Hummons, Margaret Williams, Cleo Estelle, Walter Captain, Paul Captain, Eugene Captain, Charles Captain and Vonley Captain.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Patricia Burns will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery, where the Highland County Honor Guard will accord military honors. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
