Robert Earl "Bob" Shumaker, 80, of Greenfield, died at 1:05 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at his home.

He was born January 12, 1932 in Fayette County, the son of the late Earl and Dorothy Everhart Shumaker. On April 14, 1955, he married the love of his life, the former Ruth Curry, who survives.

Bob retired as an equipment operator with American Aggregates. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He and Ruth attended the Chapel of Hope in Greenfield.

Also surviving are two daughters, Susan Stuckey of New Holland and Betty (Dave) Howland of Greenfield; seven grandchildren, Randy Shumaker, April (Sherrod) Compher, Aaron (Ciara) White, Jessica (Jeff) Anderson, Audrey (Bill) Davis, Christin Howland and Jason (Jenny) Howland; nine great-grandchildren; his special companion, Baby; one sister, Eleanor Dowler of Washington C.H.; and two brothers; Dale and Dane of Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by one son, Larry Shumaker; two brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Hope, 12986 state Route 41, Greenfield with Pastor Randy Abbott officiating. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield. Friends may call at the Chapel of Hope on Sunday from 4-8 p.m., with a veterans appreciation service to be held at 7:30 p.m. The Anderson-Ebright Funeral Home, Greenfield is serving the family.
