Richard George Swan, 69, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at his home.
He was born in Jackson on June 19, 1942, the son of Miles and Helen (Miller) Swan.
He was a pipefitter for 38 years and was a member of Columbus 189 Plumbers and Pipefitters. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Gwynne (Motko) Scaletta Swan, whom he married on Aug. 29, 1983; eight children, Tammy Swan, Tonya Swan, Teresa Swan, Ray
Scaletta, Katrena (Brandon) Scaletta, Krystal (John) Swan, Gig (Shane) Swan and Richie (Ciera) Swan; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Miles, Todd, Billy, Malaia, Lucas and Julian; one great-grandson, Kale; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Byron Swan; one sister, June Beatty; one nephew, Johnny Beatty; and both parents.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Mike Anderson officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. with veterans appreciation service to be held at 7 p.m.
