Richard “Dick” Shaw, 79, of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at the University Hospital in Cincinnati.
He was born in Marshall on Nov. 9, 1931, the son of the late Ervin and Leone (Siders) Shaw.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Shaw, and one grandson.
Dick was a member of the Eagles, Aerie 1161, VFW 9094 and Amvets Post #61 and was BPOE Lodge #361 Past Exalted Ruler. He retired from Jean's Flowers after 50 years and had served in the US Navy during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Willey) Shaw of Hillsboro; one son, Randy K. (Terry) Shaw; one daughter, Mitzi (Brian) Smith of Hillsboro; three stepsons, Daryl (Kim) Meyerenkee of Cincinnati, Kenneth (Sue) Boatman of Hillsboro and Gary Boatman of Hillsboro; one stepdaughter, Andrea Brown of Hillsboro; two brothers, Hugh Wayne (Doris) Shaw of Hillsboro and Bill (Donna) Shaw of South Carolina; one sister, Juanita Smart of Peebles; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; special friends Tom & Rita Wurtzbach of Hillsboro and Claire & Margaret Whitford of Hillsboro; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2011 at the Thompson Funeral Home with Tom Stoops officiating. Burial will follow with military graveside services by the Highland County Honor Guard in the Prospect Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
