Retta J. Wallace, 84, of the Belfast community, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 at her residence.

She was born in Adams County on June 21, 1930, the daughter of the late Nathan and Olive (Humphrey) Pendell.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl F. “Pete” Wallace, on Sept. 26, 1992; five sisters, Melva, Helen, Mary, Sarah and Marge; one brother, Mac Humphrey; and a son-in-law, James Beatty.

Retta retired after 30 years from working at Bolte Grocery.

She is survived by her two sons, Barry (Jill) Pendell of Hillsboro and Richard (Fiancé Lora Davis) Hilderbrandt of Hillsboro; two daughters, Sherry Keith of Hillsboro and Robin (Frank) Schoolcraft of Hillsboro; a brother, J. Warren “Bud” (Reva) Pendell of Wilmington; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29 at the Thompson Funeral Home.
