Raymond Short, 82, of Peebles, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011 at The Laurels of Hillsboro.

He was born June 14, 1929 in Dayton, the son of the late Bert and Emma (White) Short.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Mike Short; one granddaughter, Melissa Short; one brother, Mark Short; and one sister, Betty Short.

He retired from the Gross-Feibel Company in Hillsboro. He was a member of FOE Aerie #1161 and he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and raise a garden. He had a passion for bowling and pitching horse shoes.

On March 4, 1929, he was united in marriage to Wanda (Shoemaker) Short, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Clinton Fields of Sinking Spring, and Jean and Joe Thompson of Buford; three sons and daughter-in-law, Marvin Short of Aurora, Colo., Randy and Dotty Short of Piketon, and Rick Short of Hillsboro; two brothers, Ray Short of Sinking Spring, and Leo Short of Peebles; two sisters, Flossie Gall of Hillsboro and Florence Workman of Peebles; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring. Burial will follow in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home.
