Raymond Alfred Patton, 94, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Laurels of Hillsboro.
He was born Oct. 9, 1917 in Williamsburg, the son of the late Fredrick Lawrence and Eleanora Caldwell Patton.
Mr. Patton had worked for several years for the Stockwell Furniture Company in Hillsboro and also for Lynchburg Gas and Springfield and Milford Gas Companies. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, a member of the Lynchburg Masonic Lodge 178 F&AM, the Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati and had served on the Board of Directors of the Home Builders Association for many years.
He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann (Rob) Roeller of Miamisburg; one son, John Raymond (Sherri) Patton of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Brian (Ashley Dyer) Roeller, Christopher Raymond Roeller, Julie Roeller and Andrew Raymond (Alisha) Patton; and six great-grandchildren, Alexus, Alec, Haley, Austin, Destiny Roeller and Bailey Patton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Stockwell Patton on Oct. 26, 1999.
Services will be held noon Saturday, June 23 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Rev. Gary Hughes will officiate. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg.
