Purl E. Woodmansee, 91, of Kalamazoo, Mich., died on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011 at the Alamo Nursing Home in Kalamazoo.

She was born on Sept. 5, 1920 in Highland County, the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel Fee Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ned "Woody" Woodmansee.

Purl and Ned are now dancing to the music of Glenn Miller with their lifelong friends, Dr. Marty and Arlene Byers and Melvin and Evelyn Forbes.

Purl was a graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and was a member of the Greenfield United Methodist Church.. She had worked as a clothing buyer for the Wick's Department Store in Bloomington, Ind.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce J. Woodmansee and Kaye Callard of Big Fork, Mont.; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Larry Eakins of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren, David Woodmansee, Brittany Callard-Al-Awa, Missy Hamen and Jay Eakins; and seven great-grandchildren; Benjamin and Matthew Woodmansee, Tamsin Al-Awa, Saf Al-Awa and Levi, Alex and Evan Eakins. Dear to her heart were Jim and Cindy Byers and Carol Forbes-Wiley.  

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 at the Greenfield Cemetery with Rev James Groves officiating. Calling hours will not be observed. The Anderson-Ebright Funeral Home of Greenfield is serving the family.
