Ora Georgiana Shockey, 93, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at Edgewood Manor in Greenfield.

She was born May 8, 1919 in Pickaway County, the daughter of Samuel Preston and Irene Georgiana (Fuller) Jones.

She was a homemaker and a former employee of Greenfield Exempted Village Schools in the cafeteria for 21 years, and was a member of the Greenfield First United Methodist Church. She was the past president of the Women’s Society of Christian Service, a 60-year member of Chapter 441 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She was a 1937 graduate of Buckskin High School.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra (William) Van Pelt of Columbus, and Elaine (Larry) Braley of Loveland; two granddaughters, Barbara (Michael) Hegreburg of Crystal Lake, IL, and Maria (Jim) Redrow of Milford; two grandsons, W. Christopher (Valerie) Van Pelt of Dallas, and Matthew Van Pelt of Taipei, Taiwan; two step-grandsons, Larry (Bobbie Jo) Braley of Milford, and Tom (Christine) Braley of Milford; 11 great-grandchildren, Mark and Rachel Hegreburg of Crystal Lake, Ill., Olivia and Elle Redrow of Milford, Nicholas Van Pelt of Dallas, Samantha, Taylor, Tommy, Michael, Alex, and Andrew Braley of Milford; one sister, Edna Pleasant of Kenton; one brother, Duane (Vivian) Jones of Rochester, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd C. Shockey, who passed away Aug. 21, 2005; four sisters, Glada Delph, Kathleen Clark, Vivian Miller, and Miriam Bailey; and four brothers, Everett Jones, Roger Jones, Philip Jones, and Daniel Jones

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16 at the Greenfield First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. McClellan Nicholson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the Greenfield First United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Greenfield First United Methodist Church, 405 South St., Greenfield, Ohio 45123.

The Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield is serving the family.
