Ollie Eugene Elswick, age 79, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009.
He was born November 16, 1930 in Pike County, Kentucky the son of the late Dewey and Virgie Newsome Elswick.
He owned and operated Ollie Elswick Painting for more than 50 years. He loved children and was affectionately known as “Papaw” by many.
He is survived by his wife of more than 58 years Iva J. Kingsolver Elswick; six children, Jeannie Christian of Wilmington, Nora (Randy) Chambers of Sevierville, Tennessee, Sharon (Guy) Osborne of Wilmington, Danny Elswick of Wilmington, Tammy (Jim) Carpenter of New Vienna, and Sandi Elswick of Pickerington; eleven grandchildren, Matthew (Loren) Chambers of Sevierville, Amy Jo (Stacy) LeCroy of Atlanta, Heather Chambers of Atlanta, Amanda (Brian) Adams of Wilmington, Chad (Fiancée Sara) Osborne of Grave City, Holly Elswick of Pickerington, Brandi (Brandon) Hoggatt of Wilmington, B.J. (fiancée Christina) Carpenter of Wilmington, Kyle Elswick of Wilmington, Jamey Carpenter of Leesburg, and Kristen Carpenter of Wilmington; two great grandchildren, Brooklynn Rose Carpenter and Paige Adams, and three more great grandchildren on the way; two brothers, Bobby Joe (Barbara) Elswick of Indiana, and James Homer Elswick of Louisville; five sisters, Blanche Little of Louisville, Rosa (Brooks) Pickett of Louisville, Lou Fox of Louisville, Jewel Flannery of Orient, and Ethel Stallings of Louisville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Randall Elswick; one sister, Beatrice Elswick; and two brothers Don and Craig Elswick. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Brother Vernon Shaw will officiate. Private committal services for family only will follow in the Kingsolver Family Cemetery.
