Norma Lucille Nicholas, 83, of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday morning, March 25, 2012 at the Highland District Hospital.
She was born May 25, 1928, in Dayton, the daughter of the late Clifford Allen and Mildred Irene (Greenbush) King.
She attended the Spring Valley Church of Deliverance and was a member of the Pearl Street Church of Christ in Lynchburg.
Norma was a self-taught talented musician and artist. She had a gift for writing poems and songs. However, her special gift was the way she made everyone feel special and loved. Her family and friends will miss that unique quality.
She is survived by two sons, Melvin Nicholas and his wife, Bonnie, of Wilmington, and Mikel Nicholas and his wife, Cindy, of Lynchburg; four daughters, Bonnie Britton and her husband, Terry, of Hillsboro, Brenda Scanlon and her husband, Jeff, of Wilmington, Dianna Goldie and her husband, Bobby, of West Union and Debra Goldie and her husband, Jeff, of Wilmington; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, Carly Nicole Sexton, and a special friend, Priscilla Roades of
Lynchburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 53 years, Carl E. Nicholas, who passed away April
6, 1999; a grandchild, Andrew Scott Nicholas; a great-grandchild, Devon Phynix Scanlon; a brother, Frank King, and a sister, Julia Viola Jeffries.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 30 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg.
T.J. Britton, Pastor of the One Community Church in Douglasville, Ga., and Mrs. Nicholas’ grandson, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery.
