Nellie Marie (Goins) Zimmerman, 78, of Hillsboro died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 at her residence.
She was born July 14, 1933 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Harry Goins Sr. and Alberta Willis Goins.
She was a longtime member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
She is survived by five daughters, Carla (Wesley) Burns, Sherry (David) Young, Cathy Zimmerman, Pamela Zimmerman and Terri (Lee) Smith all of Hillsboro; four sons, Rodney and Eric Zimmerman of Hillsboro, Carl Zimmerman of Greenfield, and Tyrone Lawrence of Dayton; 28 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Lewis (Carolyn) Goins of Hillsboro; one daughter-in-law, Regina Zimmerman of Hillsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Charles “Pete” Zimmerman, whom she married on April 11, 1950; one son, Charles “Petey” Zimmerman Jr.; two daughters, Karen and Charlene Zimmerman; five sisters, Phyllis Kittrell, Margaret Pettiford, Shirley Curtis, Frances Curtis, and Patricia Williams; and one brother, Harry Goins Jr.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 at the New Hope Baptist Church. The Rev. Michael Hudson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday from noon-2 p.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church.
