Nellie M. Cross, 94, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011 at Hearth and Care Rehabilitation and Nursing.
She was born June 5, 1917 in Highland County, the daughter of Perry and Mary (Sherrick) Oiler.
She was a homemaker, former employee of U.S. Shoe Factory, Ivy & Twigs, Wolfe's Grocery in Greenfield and a volunteer at the Greenfield Hospital and a member of Trinity Christian Union Church of Greenfield.
She is survived by three daughters, Wilma Richter and Shirley (William) Carter, both of Greenfield and Susan (David)Shuster of Kentucky; four sons, Charles Cross, James F. (Dorothy) Cross and John T. (Patricia) Cross, all of Greenfield, and Michael J. (Lori) Cross of New Vienna; 19 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Cross on Aug. 24, 1983; one daughter, Marilyn "Katie" Everhart; one infant son, William E. Cross; three sisters, Bessie Rider, Dora Oiler and Cora Newkirk; one brother, Charles Cross; one grandson; two granddaughters; one son-in-law, Charles Richter; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Cross; and both parents.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Robert Chroninger officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Christian Union Church, 1200 North Washington Street, Greenfield, Ohio 45123.
