Nancy Louise Cowgill
Nancy Louise Cowgill, 83, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024 at her daughter's residence after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born Dec. 4, 1940 in Lynchburg, the daughter of the late Oliver Lee and Juanita Jane (Stevenson) Simmons.
In June of 1966, she married John “Jack” Cowgill, who passed away Dec. 13, 2016.
Nancy enjoyed sewing, playing 500 rummy and traveling with her family. She attended church every Sunday from an infant with the exception of the last few years due to health issues. She did painting all over Highland County with her husband for many years.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Colleen Daube and Leroy Marbaugh of Hillsboro; stepdaughter, Kathy Hawk; grandson, Tim (April) Fisher; granddaughter, Amber Yvonne McFarland; five great-grandsons: Ethan, Zayden, Brian, Tony and Wyatt; one great-granddaughter, Arianna; three brothers, Jim, Ron and John Simmons; and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Juanita Simmons; husband, Jack Cowgill; and a sister, Charlotte Simmons.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Nov. 16th, 2024 from noon to 4 p.m. at The Lake View Loft, 10215 Jones Rd., Hillsboro 45133.
Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Hillsboro has been entrusted with the arrangements.
