Morris James "Moe" Newton, 64, of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at his residence.
He was born in Cincinnati on April 1, 1947, the son of the late Alfred and Verna (Fey) Newton.
Moe retired from the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam Era, and was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church, Hillsboro, AMVETS Post #61 Hillsboro, VFW Post #9094 Hillsboro and F.O.E. Aerie #1161 Hillsboro.
He is survived by one son, Austin Newton of Hillsboro; two daughters and son-in-law, Davina and Kyle Cooper of West Union and Jenna Newton of Hillsboro; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Elm and Margaret Newton of Hillsboro, Tom and Denise Newton of Cincinnati and Tim and Chris Newton of Cincinnati; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Ann Tann of Batavia, Patricia and Ike Boehm of Cincinnati, Marian and Mike Royal of Elmwood Place and Barb Rapien of Cincinnati; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild, Sophia.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m., Monday, March 19, 2012 at the St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Mike Paraniuk officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Monday from 9-10 a.m. at the St. Mary Catholic Church.
