Mora M. Wise, 98, of Centerville, Ohio, formerly of Hillsboro, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 in Centerville.
Mora was born Nov. 7, 1911 in Marshall, Ohio, the daughter of the late Dr. Samuel Mora and Bryl (Parks) Mason.
Mora was a graduate of Marshall High School and attended Miami University for two years, receiving her teaching certificate. Mora taught first grade for four years in the Hillsboro City Schools, long enough to receive her lifetime teaching certificate. On June 16, 1936, she was united in marriage to Spencer L. Wise, who served as President of the Farmers & Traders Bank in Hillsboro, which later became US Bank. Mora and Spencer celebrated 50 years of marriage, with Spencer preceding Mora in death on Oct. 26, 1986. Mora was a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Spencer L. and Marcia Wise of Statesboro, Ga.; one daughter, Janet Swygert of Centerville; five grandchildren, Steve Holloman of Centerville, Kathy Holloman of Centerville, Dave (Shan) Holloman of Glenview, Ill., Karen Wise (Ray) Parrish of Oakridge, N.C., and Scott (Carrina) Wise of Austin, Texas; and five great-grandchildren, Kacey Lynn Holloman, Evan Spencer Holloman, Samantha Wise, Jackson Parrish, and Katie Lee Parrish.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in the Prospect Cemetery.
