Michael Wayne Carter
Michael Wayne Carter, 63, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at his home.
He was born Jan. 25, 1949, in Hillsboro, the son of the late William Teddy and Diena Margaret Wolff.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
On Dec. 26, 1995, in Troy, he married his wife of 16 years, Linda (Ouellette) Carter, and she survives. He is also survived by five children, Michael W. Carter II and his wife, Renea, of Virginia, Charles P. (Christi Millspaw) Carter, Daniel Adams and his wife, Kristina, and Jennifer Birkhimer, all of Hillsboro; 13 grandchildren, Derek, Angel and Aaron Carter, Lydia Carter, Daniel, Levi, Reanna, Haley and Christian Adams, Daniela, Michael, Derik and Robert Adams; one great-grandchild, Dixie; six siblings, Eleanor Detty of Kentucky, Margaret Clemons of Wilmington, Judy Greene of Berrysville, Edward Dale Carter, William Ted Carter, Jr. and Stephen Carter, all of Hillsboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Carter and Alan Carter; a sister, Ruth Shoemaker; and a grandson, Tyler Adams.
In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Pastor Anthony “Skip” Skipworth will officiate.
The Highland County Honor Guard will present military honors at the funeral home following the service. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday.
