Melvin Greene, 58, of Hillsboro, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born Dec. 12, 1952 in Highland County, the son of the late Cecil and Mary Tong Greene.
Mr. Greene had driven for Gibson Trucking for the past 10 years, and had worked for Pennington Bakery for more than 13 years.
He enjoyed fishing, sitting on the front porch, and searching with his metal detector.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Shipton Greene; four sons, Allen (Jamie) Greene of Leesburg, Christopher (Dawn) Greene of Hillsboro, Brett (Michele) Greene of Hillsboro, and Brandon (Amanda) Greene of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Austin Greene, Christopher Greene, Bradley Greene, Victoria Conley, Hannah Greene, Brandon Greene II, Adam Conley, Shane Huff, Larry Greene, Melvin Greene II, Kelli Greene, Shari Greene, Naomi Wooten, and Austin Castro; one sister, Evelyn (Kenneth) Clouser of Greenfield; four brothers, Eugene (Wanda) Greene of Hillsboro, Johnny (Donna) Greene of Greenfield, Jimmy Greene of Hillsboro, Paul (Candy) Greene of Hillsboro; special sister-in-law Candy Greene of Hillsboro; and a special friend Butch Shoemaker of Hillsboro.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro. John Worley of Touch Point Pentecostal Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Greene Family Cemetery near Rocky Fork Lake.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
