Mary Lewis Ray, 49, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, March 5, 2011.
Mary was born July 3, 1961 in Wilmington, the daughter of Gerald Lewis of Hillsboro and the late Rose (Mick) Lewis.
Mary was a member of the Emmanuel Christian Church in Greenfield and the Highland County Power Club. Mary was a waitress at Frisch's and Magee's in Hillsboro for 25 years and had worked at Clinton Memorial Hospital for the past several years.
Besides her mother, Mary was preceded in death by one brother, Jay Lewis, and one nephew, Evan Lewis.
Beside her father, she is survived by her companion Chuck Merriman; one daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Shawn Berry of Lynchburg; one son, John Craycraft of Lynchburg; one foster son Roby Feck, of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Karleigh Berry and Kyleigh Berry; one brother and sister-in-law, Ova and Lisa Lewis of Hillsboro; one sister, Terri Winkle of Sardinia; two nieces, Bradi Winkle and Lesley Hattan; four nephews, Jay Winkle, Andy Winkle, Jeremy Lewis, and Jerrod Shoemaker; several great nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow in the Strange Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
