Mary Jane Flor, 93, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 15, 2012 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born June 26, 1918, in the Harwood area, the daughter of the late John and Lizzie (Barker) Hawk.
She loved gardening and flowers, collected antiques and buttons and thoroughly enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
She is survived by a son, John Flor and his wife Sue of Columbus; a daughter, Jana Wells and her husband Kenneth of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren, John David (Sabrina) Flor of Dayton, Jackie Rutherford of Dayton, Stacy (Tom) Worthington of Grove City, Brandy (Vince) Pitzer of Lynchburg, Becky (Chad) McConnaughey of Lynchburg, Hilarie Byrd of Hillsboro and Max Wells of Lynchburg; 16 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Katie, Autumn, Reagan, Jaden, Sarah Beth, Brendan, Zolee, Drew, Abby, Trey, Hayley, Ethan, Will, Isom and Dinah; one great-great granddaughter, Savannah; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Palmer of Centerville, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ralph Edward Flor, on March 12, 2000; a son, Terry Flor; a great-grandson, David Stephens; four brothers, Harold, Donald, Ray and Roy Hawk; and four sisters, Lala Kier, Peg Friend, Grace Newman and Joan Hawk.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Bob Stevens will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg.
