Mary Frances Sawyer, 88, of Hillsboro died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at The Laurels in Hillsboro.

She was born March 12, 1923 in Oak Grove, Tenn., the daughter of the late William Brant and Margaret Lacey Garrett.

Mrs. Sawyer had worked for the Jergens Company in Cincinnati and had been a nursing assistant for St. Mary’s Hospital in Cincinnati for several years.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jack C. and Angie Sawyer of Hillsboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Jack Elam of Mason; four grandchildren, Shawna (Mike) Miller of Cincinnati, Jack C Sawyer II of Cincinnati, Brian and Sarah Elam of Mason; and several great- grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Sawyer on July 14, 2011; one grandson, Ethan Scott Sawyer in 1995; three sisters, Imojean Krepski, Edith Combs and Arlene Williams; and four brothers, Gene, Joe, Ed, and Jim Garrett.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Danny Morgan will officiate. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery near Taylorsville. Friends may call on Wednesday from noon-1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
