Marie Scynthia (Teti) Zurface

Marie Scynthia (Teti) Zurface, 62, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at a private residence in Hillsboro, while surrounded by family.
She was born in Utica, N.Y. on Dec. 7, 1949, the daughter of Joseph and Sally (Trzepacz) Teti.
Marie devoted her life to helping others. She was secretary of the Officer’s Wives Club in Cherry Point MCAS, the senior loan officer for the Navy Relief Society and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was awarded Citizen of the Year by North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt in 1975. She served as Field Executive for the South Central Ohio Seal of Ohio Girl Scouts. Recently, she promoted and helped to establish two local support groups for families struggling with drug and alcohol abuse, the Loved Ones Group and Al-Anon. She was also recently inducted into the Brush and Palette Art Guild of Highland County, and she received awards for three of her drawings at the Highland County Fair during her illness. Marie touched many lives and will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Bob “Bud” Zurface, whom she married on July 6, 1966; four daughters, Susan Marie Zurface of Hillsboro, Scynthia Louise Bentley of West Union, Mary Ellen (Shawn) McMurry of Greenfield and Jo Ann (Dave) Blubaugh of Columbus; her grandchildren, Austin and Marissa Zurface Daniels, Joseph, Joshua and Kaitlyn King, Miles McMurry and Audrey Blubaugh; a stepgranddaughter, Krista Ann Bentley; three sisters, Barbara (Larry) Streeby of Oregon, Cecilia Berntsen of California and Diane (Jim) Anderson of Arizona; one brother, Vito Teti of California; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Sue Early, Carol Chambers, Pat Lain and Judy Mason.
She was preceded in death by both parents.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Rev. Terry Washburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, the family will be collecting donations for the American Brain Tumor Association. Donations can be made in Marie’s name at any Merchants National Bank location.
