Marie F. Perkins
Marie F. Perkins, 77, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Heartland of Hillsboro.
She was born in Buena Vista, Ohio on April 11, 1935, the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Elsie A. (Greene) Monteith.
Marie retired after 35 years of employment, during which she worked 19 years at Great Scot in Hillsboro and at Huhtamaki in New Vienna. Marie was most at home in her kitchen canning vegetables, working in the garden or serving her family, friends and neighbors blackberry cobbler and homemade rolls. Those who knew her know the world will be just a little bit dimmer without her in it.
On Oct. 8, 1955, she was united in marriage to Elzie Perkins, who survives. She is also survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Samual V. and Deb Perkins of Kettering, Tommy D. and BJ Perkins of Hillsboro and Steven C. Perkins of Hillsboro; three sisters, Mary Perkins of New Vienna, Dorothy Morris of Lutz, Fla. and Dianne Crabill of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, Tracy (Alex) Gerken, Kelly (Justin) Heil, Brian (Sarah) Perkins, Christa (Josh) Anglemyer, Stephanie (Tim) Cowguill, Greg Perkins and Kyle(Shana) Perkins; seven great-grandchildren, Hayden Gerken, Emerson Gerken, Hadley Heil, Holden Heil, Gabriella Perkins, Kayleigh Cowguill and Eddie Cowguill.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one great-grandson, George Allen Cowguill; and three brothers, Harry Richard Monteith, Roy Gerald Monteith and Albert Monteith.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
