Marcella Rae “Nan” Show, 72, of Hillsboro, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.
She was born Nov. 28, 1938 in Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of the late Stanley F. and Mary Maraugha Chabanik.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Chillicothe and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hillsboro.
She was born and raised in Pennsylvania. She and her husband had lived in Pennsylvania, Alaska, and Dayton before making her home in Hillsboro in 1978. She had been a mail carrier for several years in Hillsboro, after retiring from the Post Office she worked as bookkeeper in Dr. James McKown’s Dental Office.
She is survived by her husband, William Show, whom she married Jan. 15, 1956 in Frostburg, W.Va.; two daughters, Kimberly and her husband, Dr. Jim McKown, of Hillsboro, and Marcy and her husband, Brian Lassen, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Richard (Heather) Sisler of Peebles, Davide (Jessica) Soprano of Hillsboro, Amberlyn (Travis) Sprinkle of Hillsboro, Brian Howard of Chillicothe, Andrew Howard of Chillicothe, Aurora Lassen of Chillicothe, and Faleen Lassen of Chillicothe; great-grandchildren, Alexis Sprinkle, Rayanne Sprinkle, Melanie Howard, Payton Sprinkle, Alyssa Bruening, and one great-grandchild on-the-way; brother Charles (Joyce) Chabanik of Smithfield, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Thelma Padovich of Uniontown, Pa.; nieces and nephews, Chuckie Chabanik, Karen Siebert, Tom Chabanik, and Misty Fischer; and five special nieces, Christine (Randy) Rose, Bobbie (Bob) Springer, Patti (Ron) Knapp, Cindy (Rich) Campbell, and Mickie (Pap) Carr.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William O. “Ricky” Show; brother, Stanley F. “Butch” Chabanik; and niece, Jodi Chabanik.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at St. Cryl and Methodias Catholic Church in Fairchance, Pa. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Fairchance, Pa. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday, Feb. 17 at the Donald R. Crawford Funeral Home in Hopwood, Pa. Local visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Monday, Feb. 14 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
