Mabel Smalley, 72, of Peebles, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center.
She was born in Hillsboro on May 14, 1939, the daughter of the late William and Nora (Wisecup) Gustin.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandchild.
She attended Louisville Community Church. She was a tax professional for H&R Block, a member of the Louisville Grange, Peebles Garden Club, Peebles Shakespeare Club, and Peebles Alumni.
She is survived by her husband, Major Donald Smalley (ret.) of Peebles, whom she married on June 2, 1957; one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Kara Smalley of Illinois; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Steve Raschke of Virginia, Edie Schwamberger of Peebles, and Kim and Bill Harlow of Japan; one sister, Juanita Gustin of Peebles; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles, with Michael Wiseman officiating. Burial will follow in Louisville Cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles.
