Luther Brayton Banks, 83, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 at the home of his daughter in Lynchburg.

He was born April 28, 1929 in Franklin, the son of the late Shelby and Julia Eversole Banks.

He had been a journeyman wireman electrician and lifelong member of the I.B.E.W. Local #648 in Hamilton. Among the places he was associated with were Frigidaire, Long Electric, Monsanto Lab, United Electric Lab, and Kings Island.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Metcalf Banks; children, Marc Banks of Knoxville, Tenn., Suzanne (Larry) Banks-Dwelly of Lynchburg, Elaine (John) Banks-Storrs of Hillsboro, and Luther (Pam) Banks II of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Margaret Storrs, Matthew Storrs, Travis Banks, and Madison Banks; and siblings, Thelma (Harold) Throckmorton of Leesburg, Norma Ogan of Hillsboro, Glenn Banks of Hillsboro, James Kenneth (Della) Banks of Hillsboro, Edna Jones of Leesburg, and Joan (Kenneth) Hall of Franklin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Banks; and son, Kevin Banks.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Burial will take place in the Wood Hill Cemetery in Franklin.

The Davis-Turner Funeral Home, Lynchburg is serving the family.
