Lawrence McCreight “Larry” Steen, 96, of Hillsboro died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the Laurels in Hillsboro.
He was born Oct. 15, 1914 in Seaman, the son of the late James Truman and Jennie Lynn Stroup Steen.
Mr. Steen had owned and operated Steen’s IGA Grocery in Hillsboro for many years. He was a member of the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church, Highland County Senior Citizens, Farm Bureau, AmVets Post 61, had served on the Board of Directors of the IGA Federal Credit Union, had been a Special Deputy Sheriff under Walt Reffitt and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Joan Sellman Kirk of Hillsboro; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 29 at the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church. Pastor Matt Burns will officiate. Burial with military honor presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow in the Prospect Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church, 8080 S. R. 124, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
