Lavena Lorraine Gschwandtner, 54, of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 1, 2012, surrounded by her family at her home.
She was born Aug. 20, 1958, at Ft. Dix, N.J., the daughter of John and Ethel (Sager) Scott.
She had proudly received her master's degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix in November 2008. She had been a nurse with the Dayton, Chillicothe and most recently the Gainesville, Fla. V.A. medical centers for the last 18 years.
On June 26, 1976, in Browns Mills, N.J., she married her husband of 36 years, Erich Gschwandtner, and he survives.
She is also survived by a daughter, Kelly Mullins and her husband Jacob of Cumming, Ga.; two grandchildren, Vincent Anthony Mullins and Faith Angelika Mullins; her mother, Ethel Starnes of Carrier Mills, Ill.; four siblings, Walter (Donna) Scott of South Carolina, Eloise (Bruce) Chase of Pennsylvania, James (Shera) Scott of South Carolina and John Scott II; her mother-in-law, Margaret Gschwandtner of Florissant, Mo.; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara (Dennis) Raitz and Angela Gschwandtner, both of Florissant, Mo., as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Scott; a brother, Wyatt Scott, and her father-in-law, Eduard Gschwandtner.
In keeping with her wishes, she was cremated. Her graveside funeral service will be 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at the Hillsboro Cemetery. Craig Dove will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
