Larry E. Irwin, 72, of The Villages, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 at his home.
He was born Feb. 5, 1940 in Sabina, the son of the Late Gilbert and Eva M. Knedler Irwin.
Mr. Irwin had been an educator for 30 years, serving as a teacher, coach, counselor, assistant principal and principal for the Lakota Local Schools and had retired as the assistant superintendent of the St. Bernard-Elmwood Place schools.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Sue Sauls Irwin; one stepdaughter, Pamela Woods of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Dorothy M. Bailey of Wilmington, one brother-in-law, Rodney Sauls of Hampton, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Fred Irwin; and one sister, Ramona Bradley.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Mark Irwin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Troutwine Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m. at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg.
